Menstrual Disorders Treatment in Adolescent Girls in Kolkata

What are Adolescent Gynaecological Disorders?

Adolescent gynaecological disorders are a spectrum of gynaecological issues that affect teenagers and young adults during adolescence, typically between the ages of 10 and 19. These problems can be caused by a number of factors, including hormonal changes, infections, anatomical abnormalities, or lifestyle factors.

Different Types of Adolescent Gynaecological Disorders

The spectrum of adolescent gynaecological disorders includes a wide variety of gynaecological health issues, such as:

General Gynaecological Health

General gynaecology considers the basic health of young girls when they are undergoing rapid transformations in their minds and bodies. It also involves the education and awareness about bodily changes during puberty, coping mechanisms with the changes and so forth.

Menstrual Disorders

Menstrual disorders are the most common gynaecological problems experienced by adolescent girls. These disorders can range from irregular periods, heavy or painful periods, to missed periods. Hormonal imbalances, stress, or weight fluctuations can all contribute to menstrual disorders. Treatment for menstrual disorders is relative to the underlying cause and may include birth control pills, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or surgery.

    Vaginal Disorders

Vaginal disorders include yeast infections, vaginismus, lumps, obstructions, bacterial infections and others. These problems can create coping difficulties, wild speculations and even embarrassment among young women. This is precisely why these problems demand prompt, timely treatment.

    Vulvovaginitis:

Vulvovaginitis is a common inflammation of the vulva and vagina that can be caused by infection, irritation, or allergy. Symptoms of vulvovaginitis include itching, burning, and pain during urination. Treatment may include medication, hygiene practices, and avoiding irritants.

    Abnormal Skin Change

Hormonal fluctuations can trigger a range of abnormal skin changes in adolescents. These could include acne, abnormal sweating, skin lesions and dermatitis among others.

    Abnormal Vaginal Discharge

Though vaginal discharge during adolescence is a common phenomenon, anything other than white, mucus or clear discharge should be a cause of concern and might require a thorough medical check-up.

    Cervical Dysplasia

Cervical dysplasia develops as a neoplastic growth taking root on the cervical wall. It resembles cancerous growth in form and can lead to cancer if not put under medical scrutiny in the earlier stages.
